ANZAC soundscape

 For this weeks reading we are learning about ANZAC! One of the tasks we had to do was make a soundscape of what we think the War sounded like and what they would say and what would happen.

1. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

2. The ANZAC'S were all volunteers, there was no conscription.

3. There is no town called Gallipoli. 

4. The 25th of April was officially named `ANZAC day` in 1916

5. The last man surviving ANZAC was a man named Alec 
Campbell.

6. The Gallipoli campaign ended in a stale mate, when the ANZACS slipped away quietly over two nights.

7. The last post was typically played during the War to tell the soldiers the days fighting had finished 

8. The ANZAC biscuits were traditionally square hard tack biscuits that many men were said to have 'broken their teeth on'. It became one of the soldiers staple foods and could be ground down to make porridge, thicken a stew, fried as fritters and even comically described to be used as souvenirs that could be passed onto generations.

9. During the Gallipoli campaign, the ANZAC and Turkish soldiers called a truce for eight hours.

10.  Two-up is a traditional gambling game only allowed to be played on Anzac day through pubs and clubs in Australia. It was played extensively by the Australian soldiers during WWI.

Features of a Community T1 W9 & W8 2021

 For Week 8 & 9 we are learning about Features and Community. We had to interview a buddy and write it on a news paper and go on our ako whanau group "twitter" and write about the video we watched! My favorite part was interviewing Lily and then writing it on the newspaper!

Animals past, present and future T1 W8 & 9

 For this weeks and last weeks reading we are learning about what will/has happened in the past and future. we had to design a new habitat for an animal of our choice and also make a robot animal (I chose a horse) I enjoyed programming my robotic horse and making a new habitat!

My Nonsense Creature

 Skye, she is my monster. She has purple stripy horns and a purple stomach. Shes got brown elf ears, a pig nose and freckles! On top of her head she has she has a little bit of brown, fluffy hair. Skye can also fly because she has light blue eagle wings. She also has yellow teeth and orange earrings as well as a blue tongue! I'm pretty sure Skye's kind lives in a dark and gloomy forests because that's where I found her!(We were on a hike) Skye has pig, eagle and a bit of human in her. Skye sleeps under my bed or sometimes with me I love Skye because she is kind and she take me up for rides high up in the sky. Skye is VERY afraid of loud noises and other animals. She loves playing games and eating Ice-Cream! She always wants to come to school with me but I say no, One time I did let her come to school because it was bring your pet to school day! But everyone just screamed and ran away.. And I got detention .. The thing she HATES MOST is BROCCOLI she HATES broccoli.. In our spare time we like playing basketball and that is really fun! Her fur is as soft as a cloud and as white as fresh paper. I love Skye and she loves me.
