 The moment had finally arrived..

I was on stage.. Kneeling on my knees, my head was down and I could hear the audience mumbling.

My knees were already burning and sweating with nerve racking fear, I was wobbling and trying so hard not to look up and see the audience looking and starting to stare as the lights slowly turn on.

Suddenly the music started to play I looked up and started doing random actions with my hands, I did not know what I was doing AT ALL! The music was really loud so I couldn't hear anymore mumbling which some how made me much less nervous. Suddenly we were already standing up and doing the cross open, cross open action, I could also see Keeva, Mum and Dad watching my every breath like a hawk.

I could feel the ground shake as we stomp our feet onto the ground and slap our legs as we walk closer and closer to the front of the audience. The music felt like it was getting louder and louder as we move on. Then we were already up to the up down, up down, up down head change, change part!

When I put my arms up they shake and shake from unease, "You can do this" I said to myself in my head.

Out of the corner of my eye I could see Lily on the end, I could tell that Lily was as nervous as me. 

I then realized the the lights started to slowly turning off then we all stood up turned to the side and walked out the door two lines at a time.. That wasn't that hard.. I think.

 

 Axolotls

Axolotls are most likely 12 inches in size and weigh around 10.5 ounces.

Their scientific name is Ambystoma Mexicanum. They live permanently in water, and are found in the lake Xochimilco just outside of Mexico.

Axolotls come in 5 basic colors like, dark green, orange, pink, white and golden.

They have 6 feathery gills which is their most recognizable part. 

It has quite a slim, small flat body with a large head.

People say that some Axolotls can have silver highlights on their skin.

Axolotls eat pretty much anything that they can catch, such as.. Crustaceans, mollusks, insect larvae and some fish. When Axolotls move around or when they are trying to find something to eat they have to be careful because of their predators. Its hard for Axolotls to hide from their predators because most of them are birds like, Storks, Herons ETC. They also have large fish that like to eat them, and they are much easier to hide from since Axolotls are very small.

As you could probably tell Axolotls are harmless to humans unless.. You pick one up with any other fish.

Axolotls are very aggressive to other fish and each other. They bite off each others gills, feet, tails, but luckily the have the amazing ability to regrow skin, body parts, bones and even muscles!

So if they get hurt they can easily regrow whatever they lost back.

 Pygmy Seahorses

Pygmy Seahorses are 2 cm in size, making them one of the smallest in the world.

The official scientific name for the Pygmy Seahorses is Hippocampus Bargibanti.

They are found in the Indo-West Pacific Ocean, which is also where all seven different species of them live.

Camouflage is one of the Pygmy Seahorses specialties.

They live in sea fan coral which comes in the colors purple and orange.

Pygmy Seahorses change color to either purple or orange, depending on which sea fan coral they land on.

They also grow little Tubercies (bumps) on their body so they can camouflage into the texture of the coral as well as the color.

Pygmy Seahorses do a courtship dance to create the baby Pygmy Seahorses.

The father takes care of the babies in his brood pouch until they are ready to come out.

The babies start off brown and soon change color to either purple or orange depending on the color of the sea fan coral is that they land on first.

Pygmy Seahorses eat tiny Crustaceans, which are a large group of aquatic things, such as crabs, lobster, shrimp, barnacles.

They are very good at hiding because of their camouflage techniques.

Their predators are just the main things like.. larger fish, and sharks .

The coral reef is being destroyed!!

The coral reef is getting worse due to so much temperature changing, fishing nets and fishing practices, acidification.

This is where a lot of sea fan coral is and some species of the Pygmy Seahorses live there.

Stories, Dance and culture Reading W7 2021

 For this weeks reading we are learning about stories, dances and culture! We had to make infers make or recreate a dance or song. I enjoyed doing the dance with Lily the most!

 The BIG race

I had my last gulp of water.. It was my turn.. I walked up to the track and knelt down on my right knee, fear flew over my head. "I am strong" I said to myself, "I can do this" I continued, HOOOONNNKKKK!!! Went the horn to start the race. Suddenly I flew up into the air, RUNNING, FLYING, FEET POUNDING AND HEART THUMPING!!!

5 minutes done already, I had already started to sweat.

Another 10 minutes gone, and my calves had started to burn and I was huffing and puffing.

My gut was wrenching but I pushed on, I had to do this.

I could hear everyone screaming and cheering, but I blocked out the noise, I was in full concentration mode.

The wind whipped past me as I started to sprint faster and faster and I got closer and closer to the finish line!

Then it hit me... My throat was dry and I was starting to get a bit of a stitch, I had started to lose hope. I looked over to the sidelines and saw my coach give me a nod of encouragement. I pushed on! Suddenly... I was THROUGH THE RIBBON!!!! 

I had WON!!  

Reading T2 2021

For this weeks reading we are learning about family and friends! We had to do some spelling patterns, crosswords and learnt a bit more about Synonyms and Antonyms. I enjoyed drawing my picture, making my kahoot, and doing the crossword!

  The camping trip to Samoa

 Hi! I'm Maria, I am 13 years old and ya know brown hair brown eyes anyways it was a Saturday morning, about 9:30am. "Rise and shine my sunshine!" Mum said opening my curtains. "Mumm can you pleaseee stop saying that now and let me sleeeeep pleaseee" I groaned pout to her, "Come on Maria I let you sleep 30 extra minutes later. Its time to get up!" She replied, I groaned some more, "Were having pancakes for breakfasttt!" I suddenly wasn't tired anymore! I chucked off my blankets and ran down stairs as fast as I could.

"Morning Maria!" Dad said, "Morning!" I replied excitedly. "Thanks Paul, But I can take over now" Mum said laughing, "Ok good because honestly Chanelle I had no idea what I was doing!" Dad said. I sat down at the breakfast bar, Pulled my Iphone 12 pro max and ya know went on all that social media stuff. "haaave a good sleep?" Dad asked leaning down onto the breakfast bar, "Uhh yeah yeah fine" I said looking down and texting my best friend Jackie, dad started to look at me weirdly after he said that, Ya know that look parents give you when they want you to say something specific to them, "Ugh fine, did you have a good sleep too?" I said, "ahh see that wasn't to hard was it! and btw thats what you kids say these days I did have a good sleep!" Dad said happily. Suddenly dad swooped my phone out of my hands!! "Daddd give it BACK!!!" I shouted, "You kids spend WAY to much time on these device things, right katie" dad said, Katie nodded and clapped her hands, "SEEEE Katie agrees with me darling!" dad continued, " shes A BABY DAD!!!" I shouted even louder. "Pancakes are ready?" Mum said nervously, I got up grabbed my pancakes and stormed off to my room. I COULDN'T EVEN ENJOY MY PANCAKES!! yeah, I was THAT mad.

When I finished my pancakes I thought that I might as well get ready so I did! I got dressed did my hair brushed my teeth and blah blah blah oh and also put on my cap OBVIOUSLY.

Then dad called a family meeting in the kitchen. I went down and as soon as dad saw me he started to day "Me AND your mum have decided that we need a holiday! So we have decided to have a trip to Samoa butttt.. WITHOUT ANY DEVICES!! YAYY!! Well we better get packing were leaving in an hour!" I was shocked I ran to my room and packed all my things.

2 hours later we had arrived to Samoa it was BEAUTIFUL!! Then suddenly dad chucked all our laguage and US onto a small motor powered boat!! "Uhh dad. Where are we going" I said confused, "To an even prettier Island!" Dad replied. 

10 minutes later the boat stopped!! WE WERE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN!!!! 

A while later it started to get really hot! "Everyone have some water and eat some food." mum said exhaustedly, "Thanks mum" I said. as time past it had been three hours on that boat. Suddenly a HUGE boat came and SAVED US!!! We all flew back home straight away and the first thing we said was "Lets never go to Samoa AGAIN!

Reading week 5 2021

 This weeks reading we are learning about Samoan language week! I enjoyed doing the word search and making my poster! I chose to teach a middle school student how to count to 10 in Samoan.
