With being a human and a horse.

Eating raw flesh as their good food source.

Being unpredictable and wild, in their legendary group.

Trotting around the forest within in their beastly troupe.

Watch out for their bows! You better duck down low to escape their course.

Folklore Creatures Reading Week 10

 For this weeks reading we are learning about folklore creatures such as.. Centaurs, Griffins, Phoenix ETC. We had to draw a conclusion, infer 2 pictures, create a profile and do a word search! I really enjoyed making my profile about the Centaur.

 For this weeks reading one of our tasks was to choose a folklore creature from the list on the slide and create a profile. You could look at the template if you needed some help. For my folklore creature profile I chose a Centaur!

 The moment had finally arrived..

I was on stage.. Kneeling on my knees, my head was down and I could hear the audience mumbling.

My knees were already burning and sweating with nerve racking fear, I was wobbling and trying so hard not to look up and see the audience looking and starting to stare as the lights slowly turn on.

Suddenly the music started to play I looked up and started doing random actions with my hands, I did not know what I was doing AT ALL! The music was really loud so I couldn't hear anymore mumbling which some how made me much less nervous. Suddenly we were already standing up and doing the cross open, cross open action, I could also see Keeva, Mum and Dad watching my every breath like a hawk.

I could feel the ground shake as we stomp our feet onto the ground and slap our legs as we walk closer and closer to the front of the audience. The music felt like it was getting louder and louder as we move on. Then we were already up to the up down, up down, up down head change, change part!

When I put my arms up they shake and shake from unease, "You can do this" I said to myself in my head.

Out of the corner of my eye I could see Lily on the end, I could tell that Lily was as nervous as me. 

I then realized the the lights started to slowly turning off then we all stood up turned to the side and walked out the door two lines at a time.. That wasn't that hard.. I think.

 

 Axolotls

Axolotls are most likely 12 inches in size and weigh around 10.5 ounces.

Their scientific name is Ambystoma Mexicanum. They live permanently in water, and are found in the lake Xochimilco just outside of Mexico.

Axolotls come in 5 basic colors like, dark green, orange, pink, white and golden.

They have 6 feathery gills which is their most recognizable part. 

It has quite a slim, small flat body with a large head.

People say that some Axolotls can have silver highlights on their skin.

Axolotls eat pretty much anything that they can catch, such as.. Crustaceans, mollusks, insect larvae and some fish. When Axolotls move around or when they are trying to find something to eat they have to be careful because of their predators. Its hard for Axolotls to hide from their predators because most of them are birds like, Storks, Herons ETC. They also have large fish that like to eat them, and they are much easier to hide from since Axolotls are very small.

As you could probably tell Axolotls are harmless to humans unless.. You pick one up with any other fish.

Axolotls are very aggressive to other fish and each other. They bite off each others gills, feet, tails, but luckily the have the amazing ability to regrow skin, body parts, bones and even muscles!

So if they get hurt they can easily regrow whatever they lost back.

 Pygmy Seahorses

Pygmy Seahorses are 2 cm in size, making them one of the smallest in the world.

The official scientific name for the Pygmy Seahorses is Hippocampus Bargibanti.

They are found in the Indo-West Pacific Ocean, which is also where all seven different species of them live.

Camouflage is one of the Pygmy Seahorses specialties.

They live in sea fan coral which comes in the colors purple and orange.

Pygmy Seahorses change color to either purple or orange, depending on which sea fan coral they land on.

They also grow little Tubercies (bumps) on their body so they can camouflage into the texture of the coral as well as the color.

Pygmy Seahorses do a courtship dance to create the baby Pygmy Seahorses.

The father takes care of the babies in his brood pouch until they are ready to come out.

The babies start off brown and soon change color to either purple or orange depending on the color of the sea fan coral is that they land on first.

Pygmy Seahorses eat tiny Crustaceans, which are a large group of aquatic things, such as crabs, lobster, shrimp, barnacles.

They are very good at hiding because of their camouflage techniques.

Their predators are just the main things like.. larger fish, and sharks .

The coral reef is being destroyed!!

The coral reef is getting worse due to so much temperature changing, fishing nets and fishing practices, acidification.

This is where a lot of sea fan coral is and some species of the Pygmy Seahorses live there.
